Well, I can never get enough of Alice in wonderland. I keep on sketching until I get my own version of each character that I consider to be my own style.
It came to me late last night... I said, "water lilly (only funny if you know this reference), why haven't you done a very dark and twisted steam punk-ish wonderland? Quit trying to make these characters less scary and gothic. Go for your creep, it's what you know"...
Isn't that somethin'. So, it has begun.
Do to a lovely muse of mine (N.H.) I already have had the design for the Queen of Hearts and her court. And it was only a year ago i figured out my own design for the White Queen.
Now, with this new discovery from last night i will begin to embark on the rest of the characters.
...
Mad Hatter will be the first doll. :)

Peter Pan
You know there is something so wonderful about Barrie's tale of Peter Pan. It's so strange that I woke up today with the sudden urge to read the book. Unfortunately, I do not own any of the Pan adventures. So, I dud the next best thing... Pull out every film that I have from Disney's animated to Hook to Mary Martin' live performance to Finding Neverland etc. There's something so uplifting about the story. Something so brilliant and magical that you cannot help but to feel like a child again. Where life is a never-ending adventure and anything is possible...even flight.
I want to begin paintings off the Barrie stories. Those stories and films based on them, are so magical. Maybe it's partly because I'm another year older. Or maybe it's because I needed to find that inner-child again. Whatever the reasons, it's nice to reflect and remember the imagination and heart within us. Sometimes I think that's what's missing from all of our lives. We just need that happy thought that allows us to fly.

The new card set is officially Finished!
The holidays have just been spent working constantly to finish gifts for others... while also trying to produce some things for my Etsy Store.
I have a few new projects coming up that I'm very excited about (I'll get to those in another blog.
Below I have added photos of the new card set I just completed based of an ongoing series of paintings inspired by my dear friend Kundavega that passed away last month. She inspired me to do the series and now I feel has inspired me to continue it as holiday cards; she would totally buy these!

Scissor Sisters - Any Which Way
I'm a long time fan of the Scissor Sisters... since their debut albulm. I love all three albums including their brand new release of Night Work. It is a real dance album nonstop. They have such a dark and playful side to their music... obviously why I love them so dearly.
Check out their new video from Night Work.

The Mermaid of Sorrow- 2007
The perfect piece for a month like this. November, the month of loss. It has been increasing throughout this month. One can only hope that December will bring on a winter of change. But that's asking a pessimistic person like myself to really stretch their imagination. I do have many things to look forward to... There's a reason why the figures that I paint never have smiles. Ha.
It's crazy finding all if these old paintings that have made their way into various boxes throughout the years. It's crazier thinking about what spawned their creation. Even more interesting to think of why they were put away to never be shown again.
