Hello Hello Hello!!!
So after years of painting and and creating... I'm getting my first solo show. Very good friends of mine own an amazing bar in Tampa, The Refinery. I've been asked to do a full solo art show. As many pieces as possible. Easels will be added on the upstairs deck and fliers and posters will be taken care of for me.
I could not have asked for such a great business and friends to do this with. I'm deeply touched that I'm being given this opportunity so early in my life.
I've been stressed out about themes and flow of this collection. Luckily, I have N.H. in my corner always giving me a guiding hand when I'm overwhelmed by artwork and inspiration.
So, as of right now there isn't just one specific theme... instead I have multiple collections with individual themes grouped together. It's like a sampler platter. A little bit for everyone.
Various themed Ideas are:
- The Refined Ladies
- The Fabled Secrets
- The Big Top Closes (possible)
- The Underworld Divas (possible)
Some pieces will have little stories to go with. There will also be major plans for some dolls. Both twine-tied art dolls and free standing art dolls. I want to go all out.
More to come on this exciting venture. Any pics of the process will be posted on the blog and nowhere else. So stay tuned.
Thank you all,
Spencer Meyers

Poem- The Helpless Romantic
I'm that guy
That cares too much
I am that person
Seeking love's sweet touch
The individual within shadows
So his partner may shine
A fool for a thousand hearts
Wishing one were mine
When deceived
I'll bite my tongue
When disgraced
I'll bide my time
In this world of broken promises
What is his, is never mine
Careless am I of personal gain
Selfless am I to what I'll give
Wandering through streets uncertain
I'll bare it all and that's how I'll live
I am that guy
Who cares too much
I'm that lover
In life, out of touch.

POEM: The Sisters of the Gate
One was cerebral
One was tall
Golden was her dress
Intricate; without flaw
Her hair was white
Spiraled; piled on top
With trinkets and coins
Within that tangled mop
The other like a mirror
Stoic was her face
With dress slightly tattered
Skin of an unknown race
Clothing like the night
Raven was her hair
Moonbeams and starlight
Graced this goddess fair
Together they stood
Still in their place
Together; never blinking
Staring face to face
Their role was clear
These daughters of the Fates
These muses of the artists
The sisters of the Gate
Never would they sleep
Forever; they would be
Gatekeepers to inspiration
Unlocking the world to me
One of the day
The other of night
Souls of the creators
To be their every sight
On this little island
Forever to stand
Whores to every artist
The souls of every man.

I'm BACK!
My birthday is this week. I've gone through a period of severe depression and isolation. Within this period, I distanced myself from friends, loved ones, uninspired, and became someone I'm not. It wasn't until recently when my partner said they didn't like the new Spencer. I agree. I don't really like what I've recently become.
I remembered the days from a few years ago when my partner and I would put on a movie; I'd sit and paint and he'd be there with me... just enjoying each other's company. I realized my wishing for that again depends on me. I became what I am and I can change it.
I am truly lucky to have such an amazing person in my life. He inspires me so much. I inspire him. Life is too short to worry about the little stuff. It's focused on creation, love, and laughter. Why fear the future? as long as I'm doing what makes me happy with the person I love... I don't need anything else.
Inspiration... I've been lucky to have 3 muses in my life;
Rachel Lisi
Nick Horan
Gina (Raven)
For these three I am exceptionally grateful. I've created so many wonderful things because of them. Gina always can give me the edge I need. Rachel always had inspiring names that she'd tell me for me to create into a figure. and Nick, well, Nick brought color into my life. All three have pushed me to be my very best.
I'm now inspired to go back to some old ideas I had a few years ago and tweak some of them. I received amazing Christmas gifts this year that have given me inspiration overload. I will be expanding on my women of color series. I have a bunch of small one character painting that I want to create just for fun and for cheap.
I'm smiling a lot after this past weekend, the grey clouds have cleared, and I have a happy face on.
Thank you for those (2 of you ) that read this. :)
