The Solo Art Show-update

Oh how excited I've been about this... and scared to death.

I had a very rough start to the New Year. I felt empty, alone, and uncertain with whom was I as a person and what I had to offer. I knew the only way out of this rut was to just focus on me for a bit. I needed to prove something to myself... hence this solo show.

It took me sometime to fully create the theme and decide certain pieces to be the highlights.
The working theme thus far: The Delusional Characters of the Obscure (and other stories)

This theme will encompass almost everything I do as an artist; focusing on characters and stories.
This show is looking like it will be a lot of paintings, prints, and dolls.

There will be a few individual series within the show. Not having one series throughout is my unconventional/ inexperienced way of doing this show. I prefer it to be overwhelming and interesting.
Some series included will be:
· The Refined Ladies
· Wonderland
· The T., T., T. of Tinsville
· The Traveling Freaks (vol.1)

I'm very excited by this show. It is over whelming and stressful. Many times I wonder why I am putting myself through all of this.

I'm most excited by The Traveling Freaks series. This series of character paintings are inspired by short poems I've written. Each poem and its corresponding painting will be included in a printed and bound book.
If you buy any of the original T.F. paintings, you will get the book for free with a personal hand written message/signed. Or you can always just buy the book. There will be a limited number of copies for sale. Consider it an opportunity to have something unique with every character from this series for all to see.

I've also been weeding out all old paintings, sketches, and doodled ideas to see if any would work for this show. I have so many unfinished pieces that will be completed, framed, and ready to hang. It's interesting how my style changes throughout the years. Don't know what I'm talking about? Don't worry, you will.

I've come across a few prints hanging around taking up space and not getting the love they deserve. Guess what?! You will be able to look through the "Adopt a Print Bin". Want something cooler? I will have a few artsy prints on 4"x4" metal squares. Now, that's fun!

I don't want to give everything away just yet. I will update every now and then with news of the solo show.
Stay tuned.

New ideas for pieces

Showing dual personalities. Two images of the same person with both characters. I think I'll use actual models ( style will be a cross between hermit and mistress of time).

Real models? What? Yeah, I need to get my portrait skills back in shape.
Any interested parties should respond. First idea is the charlatan.
Charlatan: A charlatan (also called swindler or mountebank) is a person practicing quackery or some similar confidence trick in order to obtain money, fame or other advantages via some form of pretense or deception.

Peter Pan

You know there is something so wonderful about Barrie's tale of Peter Pan. It's so strange that I woke up today with the sudden urge to read the book. Unfortunately, I do not own any of the Pan adventures. So, I dud the next best thing... Pull out every film that I have from Disney's animated to Hook to Mary Martin' live performance to Finding Neverland etc. There's something so uplifting about the story. Something so brilliant and magical that you cannot help but to feel like a child again. Where life is a never-ending adventure and anything is possible...even flight.
I want to begin paintings off the Barrie stories. Those stories and films based on them, are so magical. Maybe it's partly because I'm another year older. Or maybe it's because I needed to find that inner-child again. Whatever the reasons, it's nice to reflect and remember the imagination and heart within us. Sometimes I think that's what's missing from all of our lives. We just need that happy thought that allows us to fly.
"I'll never grow up!"
