Hello Hello Hello!!!
So after years of painting and and creating... I'm getting my first solo show. Very good friends of mine own an amazing bar in Tampa, The Refinery. I've been asked to do a full solo art show. As many pieces as possible. Easels will be added on the upstairs deck and fliers and posters will be taken care of for me.
I could not have asked for such a great business and friends to do this with. I'm deeply touched that I'm being given this opportunity so early in my life.
I've been stressed out about themes and flow of this collection. Luckily, I have N.H. in my corner always giving me a guiding hand when I'm overwhelmed by artwork and inspiration.
So, as of right now there isn't just one specific theme... instead I have multiple collections with individual themes grouped together. It's like a sampler platter. A little bit for everyone.
Various themed Ideas are:
- The Refined Ladies
- The Fabled Secrets
- The Big Top Closes (possible)
- The Underworld Divas (possible)
Some pieces will have little stories to go with. There will also be major plans for some dolls. Both twine-tied art dolls and free standing art dolls. I want to go all out.
More to come on this exciting venture. Any pics of the process will be posted on the blog and nowhere else. So stay tuned.
Thank you all,
Spencer Meyers

New ideas for pieces
Showing dual personalities. Two images of the same person with both characters. I think I'll use actual models ( style will be a cross between hermit and mistress of time).
Real models? What? Yeah, I need to get my portrait skills back in shape.
Any interested parties should respond. First idea is the charlatan.
Charlatan: A charlatan (also called swindler or mountebank) is a person practicing quackery or some similar confidence trick in order to obtain money, fame or other advantages via some form of pretense or deception.

Peter Pan
You know there is something so wonderful about Barrie's tale of Peter Pan. It's so strange that I woke up today with the sudden urge to read the book. Unfortunately, I do not own any of the Pan adventures. So, I dud the next best thing... Pull out every film that I have from Disney's animated to Hook to Mary Martin' live performance to Finding Neverland etc. There's something so uplifting about the story. Something so brilliant and magical that you cannot help but to feel like a child again. Where life is a never-ending adventure and anything is possible...even flight.
I want to begin paintings off the Barrie stories. Those stories and films based on them, are so magical. Maybe it's partly because I'm another year older. Or maybe it's because I needed to find that inner-child again. Whatever the reasons, it's nice to reflect and remember the imagination and heart within us. Sometimes I think that's what's missing from all of our lives. We just need that happy thought that allows us to fly.
"I'll never grow up!"
